The Theme for our Convention is "Blindness Is Not a Capital Offense "

Mrs. Joanne Wilson from our National office is our National Rep.

The hosting Chapter, Wake County, wants to make this State Convention one to remember. To that end, they are changing things around and stirring things up!

Van transportation will be available all during the Convention so folks may go downtown for sightseeing or meals. James Benton will be Coordinating transportation so folks needing pickup from or delivery to the bus station or the train station should contact him at (919) 833-2259.

The Wake Chapter will host a good Hospitality Room on the main floor of the Hotel in the Crabtree Jones room. It will open Thursday and will be open periodically during the convention. It will close after breakfast on Sunday.

A visit to a bell ringing practice at a local church will be offered Thursday evening. A buggy tour of downtown Raleigh, a tour of the State Capitol, and a tour of the Natural History Museum will be offered Friday afternoon. The Friday afternoon tours have a minimum number of participants so reservations are essential. Call James Benton at (919) 833-2259 or Miriam Dixon at (919) 602-8715 for more details or to make a reservation. We will need to let the local Chapter know the things we want to do in order to help them plan for the events!

A Bluegrass concert will be offered during the dinner hour on Friday. We will have a business session at 7 PM on Friday, September 19 and hear reports from the Division of Services for the Blind, NC Central University, the Governor Morehead School, and the NC Library for the Blind. We will have a Talent Show after these reports. Call Robert Parrish for details at (919) 832-1226.

The Wake Chapter will have a Silent Auction during the Convention.

Our National Rep will do special sessions at the hotel Friday morning and Saturday during lunch. Everyone is URGED to either come to the hotel Thursday night or to be at the hotel by 8 AM on Friday morning. This is our way of "cramming" more and more into a jam-packed schedule!

Informative workshops will be offered Friday afternoon. Contact Miriam dixon at (919) 602-8715 for details or to ask questions.

Boyce Locklear , our State Treasurer, and Sharon Weddington, our State Secretary, will hold their annual Chapter Admin Session Saturday from 11:30 AM to Noon. All Chapters are URGED to send a rep to this meeting.

On Saturday, beginning at 9:00 AM and running to 11:30 AM we will hear reports and other important information.

Our Students Division will hold its business session during lunch on Saturday.

We will have our Vender Hall from 2 PM to 5 PM on Saturday.

We will also have An Assistive Technology session from 2 PM to 5 PM on Saturday.

Saturday night, the NFB of NC will hear a rousing speech from our National Rep. We will award the Robert & Hazel Staley Scholarship.

After the banquet, there will be an dance.

We will have a non denominational church service on Sunday morning from 8:00 AM to 8:45 AM.
